The 100 most iconic web videos.
These days, everyone and their creative department are trying like mad to “go viral.” Of course trying to “go viral” is like trying to make people show up to a party – you never know for sure it’s going to happen. But maybe marketers should look over this list of the 100 most iconic web videos and see if they can find a commonality.
(Good luck with that, by the way.)
It’s actually somewhat encouraging that many of them are either a flat-out marketing idea or something professionally produced to market a product (I’m including music videos and the odd spec idea in here, too). Out of the 100, here are the ones I found that fit that description.
4. Barack Obama’s First YouTube Address; 9. ‘Lazy Sunday’; 13. OK Go, ‘Here It Goes Again’ Treadmill Video; 27. Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em, ‘Crank That’; 34. Guys Backflip Into Jeans; 35. will.i.am, ‘Yes We Can’; 37. Lonelygirl15; 46. Daft Hands; 49. Frozen Grand Central; 51. The Landlord; 59. Avril Lavigne, ‘Girlfriend’; 68. Wii Fit Girl; 69. Samwell, ‘What What (In The Butt)’; 70. Will It Blend?; 100. Bad Day
Just a word of advice. More Wii Fit Girl, less Samwell.
