If you’ve ever worked in advertising, you’ll watch this and wince. It’s so true it’s painful. You’ll be nodding along and muttering “Totally…” under your breath. Of course the big question is, how did we as an industry end up like this? Why do we allow clients to do this to us when a restaurant or a movie rental store or hair salon would never go for it?
Now in this economy, I wouldn’t expect any agency to stand up to a client. In fact, because of this economy, more and more clients are trying to pull this stuff. Sometimes I wonder if we’ll ever get things turned around. But until then, I hope a lot of clients see this.

The genius is that it works for pretty much every client/vendor relationship.
Ad agencies are just as guilty with their pre-press houses, production companies and interactive vendors.
It also applies to all the mom and pop service industries.. Heck even internal clients inside a company or department.
