The Death of Design: Part 56,993
14Dec10
A friend and Dog & Pony Show reader sent me this new Big Ten logo the other day. My first thought was “I wonder how much they paid someone to take 5 minutes to do a logo?” I mean, this logo is so basic and boring, I know a dozen copywriters who could have designed it. Apparently I’m not the only one who thinks it’s overly simplistic.
And then there’s the whole thing with the two divisions. Legends and Leaders? You couldn’t have gone with North and South? Blue and White? Something your teams won’t be mercilessly taunted with when half your “Leaders” division isn’t over .500 (like this year)?
Ugh.

One thing I always appreciated about the old Big Ten logo was the hidden eleven to at least acknowledge that there weren’t actually 10 teams in the conference. This logo has lost some of that actual meaning. I hate designers now a days.
