Domino’s does… the same thing everyone else does.

In nearly every brainstorm I’ve ever been in for a big, national product, someone says “Let’s do a Time’s Square billboard that’s tied into [fill in your favorite social media here].” And then everybody rolls their eyes, laughs and moves on to the next idea. It’s so overdone and cliché that it’s become a parody.
Apparently that didn’t matter to Crispin and Domino’s, who launched a 4,630-square-foot billboard in the heart of Times Square that displays online customer comments – ironically called “raising the bar.”

There should be a term for this type of promotion. I’ll start by calling it SMFSMS – Social Media for Social Media’s Sake.
