The Olympic spirit – selling out.

I don’t know what’s more painful to watch – Bob Costas’ bad dye job or the ridiculous lengths NBC is going to to promote “How To Train Your Dragon”, the new DreamWorks movie that’s coming out soon.

Actually that’s a lie. I do know what’s worse. And it’s not Bob’s Grecian Formula.

NBC seems to do it about every 3 or 4 commercial breaks and it goes something like this: “While snowboarding has only been an Olympic sport for a decade, it has been around for much longer. The artists at DreamWorks imagine what it would have been like back in Medieval times…” and then they cut to some contrived clip from the movie where a character happens to fall down a cliff onto a piece of wood and then suddenly starts doing McTwists or Frontside Rodeos.

I’m under no illusions that the Olympics are anything but a giant commercial venture, but seriously NBC, give it a rest.

  1. 1 Really?

I’ll still take How to Train Your Dragon over NBC trying to convince me (through repetition) that The Marriage Ref isn’t going to be steaming pile of crap. Don’t they have ANY other shows to promote?
