Toys as marketing.

When I was a kid, I never really looked at toys as marketing vehicles. And actually, until Reagan deregulated back in the 80’s, you couldn’t market toys from TV shows. (Fun Fact: He-Man was the first TV show toy marketed to kids on television.) Movies however were a different story. And it didn’t even matter if the kids the studios were marketing to weren’t old enough to see the movies.

Check out this great story on SF Gate about the classic inappropriate movie-related toys of our youth. I actually owned the Jaws game pictured here and it was great fun.
