I like these. But I don’t like these.

It’s not often I’m on the fence about an ad campaign – especially one from Nike. But I am about this one. (See additional spots here and here.)

On one hand, these spots barely even show the what they’re for, let alone give me a reason to buy it. They’re pretty… obtuse might be a good word. And they’re kind of about a whole lot of nothing.

That said, there’s a fun factor that they possess. And the “Boom!” is something every sports fan has said at one time or another after seeing a great play, big hit or in-your-face dunk. So I can see them resonating.

If I had to lean one way or another, I’d say they miss the mark. But only by a little.
