Have you seen the Olive Garden spots where they talk about the great dishes they create at the Olive Garden Culinary Institute of Tuscany? Admit it, you laugh a little and think “bullshit.” It’s like when Certs made up “Retsyn” to try and differentiate their breath mints from all the others. But here’s the rub – the Olive Garden Culinary Institute of Tuscany is real. (Sort of.)

Jaunted.com has the whole story, but basically it comes down to this: It’s not really called the Olive Garden Culinary Institute of Tuscany, however Olive Garden does use the restaurant a few times a year for training and menu development.

So the next time you’re chowing down on the never-ending pasta bowl and all the free garlic bread you can stuff in your face, know that the spaghetti recipe may have really come from Italy. (Although probably not.)
